With a slogan “television another way,” Bel TV will focus on tourism, culture, music, local cuisine, lifestyle, wellness and fashion. The channel will focus on a different theme each day and programmes will run on a continuous loop.
The subscription channel, whose shareholders are Belgian investors and an audiovisual sector company, want to “prove there is a place between the public (RTBF) and the private (RTL) broadcasters”, said Philip Couturiaux, executive producer of the new channel.
Bel TV’s business model will be based on selling advertising and sponsorships opportunities. The channel wants to reach an audience in Wallonia (the French speaking part of Belgium), Northern France and Luxembourg.
Programming for Bel TV will come from a studio in Gembloux and employ ten people and a similar number of freelancers.
