A feminist, member of Femen, destroyed Thursday the wax statue of Vladimir Putin in Musée Grévin with several blows from a wooden stake. She shouted: “Putin dictator”. The incident happened only a few hours before the arrival in Paris of the Russian President.
The young blonde woman was topless. She taken away by the police, all under the impassive gaze of statues of Juan Carlos, Barack Obama, Angela Merkel and Francois Hollande – the Putin waxwork lay on the ground with its head in bits.
The Russian President has been invited to France to mark the 70th anniversary of the Allied landing in Normandy. He is a guest for dinner at the Elysée with President Hollande, and a meeting between Putin and British Prime Minister David Cameron is also on the agenda. It will be the first time that Western leaders have met with him since the annexation of the Crimea by Russia.
