The clocks go back in Belgium on Sunday 25 October 2026. At 03:00 local summer time, clocks return to 02:00. The European Commission’s published timetable sets the end of summer time at 01:00 UTC, which is the same moment expressed in a different time reference.
When the clocks go back
The practical result is an extra hour on the clock overnight and an earlier sunset by local clock time afterwards. The change does not create or remove daylight; it changes the hour at which daylight appears in the daily schedule.
Many phones and computers update automatically when their date, time and location settings are correct. Manual clocks, some appliances and devices with automatic updates switched off may need attention. Check rather than assume, especially if you use a separate alarm.
Check journeys carefully
A journey crossing the overnight change deserves a second look. Use the operator’s current timetable and the time shown on your booking. If there is any uncertainty about an overnight departure, ask the operator rather than converting the time yourself.
For international calls, remember that other countries do not necessarily change clocks on the same date, or at all. A recurring meeting saved in a calendar can behave differently from a time written in a message. Confirm the local time with the other person if the appointment matters.
An autumn reset at home
Use the weekend as a prompt to review the evening routine: move a reading lamp where it is useful, check timers and leave some daylight for a walk when your schedule allows. There is no need to turn a one-hour change into an ambitious self-improvement project. A few practical checks are enough to make Monday less confusing.
