A touch of “a dolce vita” has come to the otherwise sometimes mundane task of shopping in Belgium.
This is the result of a link-up between Italian food outlet PREGO! and French supermarket giant Carrefour.
From this month, lovers of Italian cuisine will be able to benefit from PREGO!’s know-how at a brand new dedicated space at the retail giant’s hypermarket in Waterloo.
The idea, according to a PREGO! spokesman, is to “combine deliciousness and practicality” and make Italian gastronomy accessible to all, without compromising on quality.
By partnering with Carrefour, PREGO! seeks to bring Italy that bit closer to Belgian gourmets and the new collaboration is based on a shared desire: to offer quality, authentic and tasty cuisine to consumers.
Consumers will, it is said, get the chance to encounter restaurant-worthy dishes while doing their shopping.
Each dish at the outlet is prepared with fresh ingredients, traditional recipes and artisanal expertise, guaranteeing a gourmet break, without compromising on taste.
A spokesman said, “The PREGO! corners are not just sales areas but gourmet stopovers that evoke the flavours of la dolce vita.”
There is a varied range available, from traditional lasagna to refined antipasti and each dish is prepared using top-quality ingredients and traditional know-how.
“These,” said the spokesman, “creations combine Italian authenticity with accessibility designed for all tastes.”
Since its beginnings, PREGO! says it has aimed to make the authenticity of Italian cuisine accessible to everyone, using fresh, preservative-free products and 100% homemade production. And all this while respecting budgets.
The Waterloo launch follows on from the recent opening of a similar space at Carrefour in Bierge. The aim eventually is to extend the concept to other Carrefour hypermarkets across the country.
