If you have any unused clothing and footwear that is just uselessly taking up space,a Belgium charity would be very happy to accept it for distribution to the vulnerable refugees that it helps.
In particular, the Plateforme Citoyenne de Soutien aux Réfugiés refugees needs coats and shoes (some women refugees are reduced to wearing flip-flops, it says).
But other clothing and things like sleeping bags would be welcome.
Any donations should be in good condition but imperfections and wear are fine. A list is attached of what is needed and the collection points is available from the charity via the link below.
Donations, says the charity, could improve the well-being of people, including children, who may be sleeping on the streets or out in the cold for much of the day.
At the Plateforme’s centre where classes (French, Dutch, English, computer skills) are run for the refugees, donations of pens, paper and other classroom materials are also welcome.
Among other things, the Citizen Platform – BELRefugees aims to mobilize support and assistance for refugees. It works towards the integration of these people into their new environment.
