Brussels’ best summer terraces

2078

And the winner is…

For a little less than a year now the Foursquare website has been assigning ratings to the places on their site. So, now that summer is in full force, the agency Social Media Voice took the opportunity to review the capital’s cafe terraces with the highest score on the social network.

And it was Café Belga (Place Flagey, Ixelles) that claimed the top spot with 9.3 out of 10. Not really a big surprise since this very popular place has one of the largest terraces in the city!

Second place, however, might raise a few eyebrows. Chez Franz, also in Ixelles, in the Brugmann neighborhood, scored 9.2, tied with Cook & Book of Wolubilis. The Fontainas (9.1) in the city center is in third position. The Bar du Matin (9) in Forest came fourth.

Of course, the classification is highly subjective. We do not know exactly how Foursquare calculates its points – it takes into account comments posted, the ‘likes’, ‘don’t likes’ and ‘check-ins’. The results are probably more symptomatic of the hyper-connected nature of the people who frequent these places rather than an overall reflection – a Top 10 of 20-30 somethings who are glued to their smartphones.
