Frieze London and Frieze Masters return to Regent’s Park from 14–18 October 2026. For anyone planning a visit, one detail matters immediately: 14 October is invitation-only, with general admission beginning on Thursday 15 October at 13:00.
Two fairs, two starting points
Frieze London focuses on contemporary practice, while Frieze Masters brings together work spanning ancient civilisations to the 20th century. Choose the fair that best fits your interests before deciding whether to add the other.
The organiser’s 2026 announcement lists 176 galleries operating in 43 countries and regions for Frieze London. That scale rewards a little preparation: identify a handful of presentations rather than treating the visit as an endurance test.
Leave room for discovery
Alongside established galleries, the Focus section brings emerging galleries into the fair. The programme also includes Artist-to-Artist and the curated section The Code Universe.
Use those sections as an invitation to look beyond the names you already recognise. Allow yourself to stop at an unfamiliar stand, ask what connects the works and spend time with an object before reaching for your phone.
An art fair is a particularly good place to notice how your own taste works. Which materials hold your attention? Do you return to a painting after walking away? Those questions can be more useful than a hurried list of everything you have seen.
Look first, ask second
You do not need to arrive as a collector. Start with what you can observe, then ask the gallery about the artist, medium or context if you want to understand more.
If you are considering a purchase, take time to discuss provenance, the condition of the work and the practical arrangements. A first encounter can begin a conversation without requiring an immediate decision.
Keep the visit focused
The official announcement also offers a Frieze Viewing Room, open online from 8 October, for a first look at exhibitor presentations. It is a useful way to make a shortlist before travelling.
Check the hours and ticket conditions for the particular fair and day you choose. Then give yourself enough time to look properly: an absorbing hour with a few works can be more valuable than rushing past hundreds.
