A yoghurt disappears from a fridge. For most people, it would be a minor irritation. For Barnabé Leroux, the meticulous accountant at the centre of Le jour du kiwi, it threatens the order of an entire life. Laetitia Colombani’s comedy comes to Brussels’ Théâtre Royal des Galeries from 28 October to 22 November 2026.
Inside Le jour du kiwi
Barnabé is 60, widowed and attached to a daily routine that leaves little room for surprises. He rarely sees his son, and his weekly visit to his psychoanalyst is one of his few connections to the outside world. When a yoghurt goes missing, he becomes determined to find out why.
His concern soon becomes everyone else’s problem. As his son is drawn back into his life, an apparently absurd incident opens a conversation about isolation, family and the bonds that survive even when people struggle to express them. The premise is comic; the relationship between father and son gives it tenderness.

From the author of La Tresse
Colombani, known to readers for La Tresse, drew inspiration from a real incident for the play. Here, the scale is domestic and the disruption deceptively modest. A fridge becomes the starting point for a story about allowing the unexpected into a life built around control.
David Michels directs the Brussels production, with Pierre Pigeolet as Barnabé, Jeremy Bruyninckx as his son Benoît, Christel Pedrinelli as Mademoiselle Payne and Mathilde Bourguet as Lily. The performance is in French and lasts around 90 minutes without an interval.
