Molenbeek gears up for annual festival

Dance, circus, music, theatre, debate, film and festivities.

All these, and more, will be available from 3 to 7 September on Molenbeek’s streets and squares for the area’s annual MolenFest.

For five memorable days, the festival will celebrate the neighbourhood’s solidarity (Sadaka!) “sweeping aside,” says an event spokesman, “all prejudices and clichés.”

This second edition marks the jubilant end of the partners’ hard work and preparations for Molenbeek for Brussels 2030.

By the end of September it will be known whether Molenbeek will become the cultural capital of Europe in 2030.

Meanwhile, car lovers can experience an extraordinary evening in the world of German car tuning from the 80s and 90s at Brussels’ Autoworld museum on 5 September from 7pm.

An exhibition, called ‘German Tuners of the ’80s & ’90s’ features 14 iconic models from the workshops of the greatest German tuners which will be on display.

Visitors can discover this fascinating history in the exhibition and in the book “Spoilers, Foxtails & Mullets”. Be amazed by the most extravagant examples of an era that was sometimes strange, often spectacular, but always fascinating.

For this occasion, Autoworld will be transformed into a dance floor with : 

There will be DJs & a live band, ‘De Vierkante Meter’, will take visitors on a journey through the 80s and 90s.People are asked to go dressed in your favourite outfit from the 80s and 90s.

Food stands offering typical German delicacies such as currywurst,  kartoffelsalat, bretzels and Berlin doughnuts
