Navigating the leasing market

Managing rental contracts in Belgium can be complex, especially if you are unfamiliar with local laws and practices.

From understanding the rights and obligations of tenants and landlords to handling contract terminations or disputes, there are many factors to consider to ensure a good rental experience.

The aim of this seminar is to provide you with some legal and practical information you need to approach renting in Belgium with clarity and confidence. We will also cover recent regulatory changes to help you and avoid common misunderstandings, enabling you to make informed decisions for your stay in Belgium.

The Expat Welcome Desk in Brussels has therefore organised a special conference to help those in doubt about their rights.

The online webinar (in English) is at 12.00 on Monday 23 June, focusing on the following topic: “Lease contracts in Belgium: all you need to know”.

The seminar is free to access, but you need to register before 20 June via the following e-mail address:   inscription@commissioner.brussels

Note that the number of registrations is limited (irtual meeting room) and that the session will not be recorded!

Issues to be discussed by participants include:

  • Main updates to the Housing Regulations
  • How to terminate a lease contract? (rules of notice, inventory of fixtures on departure)
  • How to react in case there’s a problem during the lease?

The invited speaker is Edouard De Sauvage, a lawyer at VJN-LEGAL Law firm. It will be moderated by Selma Mitri, the Expat Welcome Desk Manager.
