Senior media operator António Buscardini as its new President of the Press Club Brussels Europe for a two-year mandate.

A Portuguese national based in Brussels since 2013, Buscardini is an experienced communications expert, journalist, television director, and former EU press officer with a strong background in European and international affairs.

He is the founder of the media outlet Travel Tomorrow and  Buscardini Communications, a press relations and communications agency. He also serves as the TV director of the documentary series Embarquement, aired by the French broadcaster TV5Monde.

He succeeds Alia Papageorgiou, who has served as president since 2021. The Board expressed its “deepest gratitude for her dedication, leadership, and commitment.”

Buscardini said, “It has been a great honour to serve the Press Club, a place I was convinced as a journalist was needed and had been missing in Brussels at the time. A place that assisted me as a press officer to introduce journalists to Brussels with open arms and a place where ideas, discussion and debate flourish, where all can have a voice. I look forward to many more debates on Rue Froissart.”

“The Press Club must be more than a meeting place, it must become a true hub for communicators,” said Buscardini. “In this new mandate, I want to bring together journalists, press officers, and influencers under one roof. We will have a dedicated, eclectic, and dynamic board that reflects the many roles of communication professionals in Brussels.”

The new Board will launch a new cycle of events focused on the key challenges of communicating in Brussels today – from navigating the EU policy landscape to fostering transparency and audience engagement in the digital era.

Buscardini also highlighted the Press Club’s vital role in the promotion of its host city: “We must not forget our responsibility to promote Brussels and its EU quarter. The Press Club maintains a unique, historic link with the Brussels-Capital Region and Visit Brussels, and we will continue to act as ambassadors for the city’s dynamism, multiculturalism, and openness.”

With around 800 members and the organisation of approximately 400 conferences and press briefings each year, the Board is committed to advancing initiatives that uphold journalistic integrity, foster international collaboration, and reaffirm the Press Club Brussels Europe’s role as a leading hub for press and communication professionals at the heart of the European Union.
