Pope Francis will visit Belgium this autumn, marking a historic moment as the Pope seldom visits European countries.
The Catholic community in Belgium, along with many others both domestically and internationally, say they “eagerly anticipate” the event.
The highlight of the visit will be the Eucharistic celebration led by Pope Francis on the morning of Sunday, September 29, in Brussels.
The visit will also prominently feature the 600th anniversary of the Catholic universities of Leuven and Louvain-la-Neuve.
The visit will also prominently feature the 600th anniversary of the KU Leuven and the UCLouvain.
In addition to the official program, other events will take place in honour of Pope Francis’s visit to Belgium, including an extensive youth programme on Saturday, September 28.
“Forward with Hope” is the slogan for Pope Francis’s visit and, say the organisers, is seen “as a call for renewal and optimism.”
