Here’s something to look forward to at the start of the New Year: the ever popular “FestiVita!” musical event.
It will return to Brussels from February 19 to 23, 2025 for a new edition.
That means five days to discover the magic and richness of ancient music in numerous shows, intended for both the uninitiated and experienced music lovers.
Described as a “scholarly and tasty blend of musicological research and openness to today’s performers, the festival has chosen the theme “The Serene Republic of Venice” as the theme for this edition.
Organisers have planned a concert for young audiences, and exhibition of musical instruments, a Venetian masked ball and two nightly candlelit concerts.
A spokesman for the event said, “There are all the ingredients to make people experience an unforgettable festival.”
As in previous editions, the festival will once again take place in Cercle Royal Gaulois in Brussels.
Artistic director Michel Keustermans said the talented violinist Amandine Beyer, accompanied by her ensemble Gli Incogniti, is among those taking part for a couple of concerts.
He said, “Vivaldi will be in the spotlight of course, but people will discover a new face of him, full of verve and colors, spiced up with some originalities in a ‘little upside down world’
“Amandine will also be present during the short opening interview on Friday, a First meeting round table on Sunday to which all those who want to discuss her musical journey are invited.”
There is also a competition, supported by the National Lottery, which is open to young people with an approach based on artistry, research and communication, he added.
“Our knowledge of early music is constantly evolving, and it is from these young people that new discoveries and ways of exploiting them in public will come. We would therefore like to offer them the opportunity to embark on the adventure in the best possible conditions.”
The winning ensemble of the Première Prize is invited to open the following year’s festival.
