The Moët Cup in Knokke

888

The seaside resort of Knokke-Heist has been chosen to host the 2013 edition of the Moët Cup. Both professional and amateur skippers can take part. Two distinct categories will compete: an amateur regatta-like timed race, where participants have to sail a given distance marked out by buoys (the choice of path and dealing with the wind will be the deciding factors for the trophy); then there’s the classic professional race, which will be held over two or three rounds, depending on weather conditions (tacking maneuvers, studying the wind and reaction time will determine the winner). The winning professional will receive €600 and a magnum of Moët & Chandon, while the amateur winner will receive the Moët & Chandon trophy and a magnum of champagne.

The regatta is open to all participants with a catamaran. Info, rules and registration: www.moetcup.be (limited number of spaces) or via email: info@moetcup.be.

Access for supporters costs €20 – you can chill out in the Moët lounge for a day, with two flutes of champagne included in the entry price. 17 & 18 August.
