Top tips for anyone moving to Belgium

An upcoming event seeks to offer much needed help for anyone thinking of relocating to Belgium.

Moving to Belgium can be a real challenge, especially for those with a family.

Tasks range from finding accommodation and a suitable school for your children to discovering the activities and leisure facilities available.

Plus, there are all the administrative formalities involved in the arrival so it’s often difficult to find your way around in a new environment.

A seminar on 21 November at noon aims to provide help to all the key characteristics of the Belgian and international school system, exploring childcare options for the very young and discovering the many activities and courses on offer for children throughout the year.

The event will also look at the practicalities of insurance, to help newcomers decide which policies may be essential for their family, such as home, car, bike and pet insurance, as well as legal protection.

“It is a session of discussion and practical advice to help you and your family settle in Belgium,” said a spokesman for the event organiser, the Brussels Commissioner for Europe and International Organisations

Issues addressed the Belgian school system, childcare and activities.The presentation will provide an overview of the education system in Belgium, childcare options for children under school age and information on the various activities and stages available for children.

Insurances for families will also be discussed with a detailed presentation on insurance products that are particularly relevant for families relocating to Brussels.

Moderator is Amélie  Bovy, Senior Legal Advisor, Expat Welcome Desk, and speakers include Carol O’Riordan, Senior Relocation Manager, Packimpex Belgium; Eleonore Van Rijckevorsel, Director of Operations Belgium and Netherlands, Packimpex Belgium and Neslihan Taner, Commercial Adviser bank&insurances, KBC Brussels

 It starts at noon and continues until 2.15pm and takes place at 63 Avenue d’Auderghem, 1040 Etterbeek – the Office of the Brussels Commissioner for Europe and International Organisations (CEIO)
