Philippe Geluck: World famous in Paris

Philippe Geluck

Regular contributor to Together magazine, Philippe Geluck is a cartoonist, illustrator, artist, comic, man of stage, TV and radio. To date, he has sold eight million albums!

This Belgian artistic all-rounder (and one of the French-speaking world’s most popular and successful cartoonists) is coming to MEKANIK!

A hilarious joke, a philosophical contemplation, a poetical consideration with an absurd twist: making art of Le Chat/De Kat is not a big deal for the Brussels humourist Philippe Geluck!

On Saturday 18 October 2014 he will smuggle his great humour, his art and, of course, his world famous Le Chat/De Kat to MEKANIK in Antwerp.

The exhibition will show drawings, serigraphs, cartoons and images of Le Chat/De Kat, placing them in a context of humour, art, time and philosophy.

The brand new Dutch album De Bijbel volgens De Kat (Blloan/Ballon Media) will be presented in Mekanik in the presence of the author. This new album carries a foreword by Kamagurka (4pm).

A video wall will present nine screens, which will continuously project nine films each containing 30 scenes., allowing the visitor to see 300 different ways in which De Kat is drawn, sculptured, animated – in short, witness the way in which he is created.

You are more than welcome at the vernissage on Saturday 18 October from 4pm until 8pm.
