A top Brussels museum is in the running for a top award.

Autoworld has been nominated for the International Historic Motoring Awards in the category “Museum of the Year”.

The award ceremony for this prestigious award will take place on November 22 in London.

The awards celebrate individuals, businesses, and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to the classic vehicle world.

A spokesman for the museum told this site: “We are incredibly proud that Autoworld has been nominated.

“The organization praised Autoworld’s “exceptional contribution to the field of classic cars and car collections.

Elsewhere, the museum is gearing up for a busy end to 2024 with several events lined up in the coming weeks.

One such event tells the  story of the bewitched “Little Bastard”, James Dean’s Porsche 550 Spyder.

A museum spokesman said it is “a car steeped in mystery and tragedy.”

Dean, a film industry icon, died in 1955 in his beloved Porsche 550 Spyder, which he had christened with this distinctive name.

But what if the car itself was the cause of a series of accidents and unexplained events? From mysterious fires to fatal accidents, the curse of ‘Little Bastard’ has affected countless lives and remains a fascinating mystery to this day.

Visitors to the museum can discover the dark history of this infamous car and the story that keeps the legend alive.

A temporary exhibition, “When Expertise Meets Art,” is also on the agenda.

This highlights collaborations between players from the creative industry.

The event will take place at Autoworld from November 29 to December 1 showcasing the fusion of craftsmanship and artistic creativity.

Among the many works on display are creations that showcase notable artistic collaborations, including Bouvy and CAD Brussels, Corica and Margaux Baert, Cubex and Manook, Direct Way Worldwide and Jean-Paul Gaultier, Dominique Rigo and Louis de Fabribeckers, Hall of Time and Philippe Geluck.

During the weekend of November 29 to December 1, visitors to Autoworld can also enjoy another exhibition, a highlight being the Avions Voisins C14 Lumineuse from the stunning Loh collection.

This French Art Deco vehicle was a favorite among artists like Maurice Chevalier, Josephine Baker, Rudolf Valentino, and Paul Morand, as well as Le Corbusier.

During the car’s restoration, the design was inspired by the first cover of the British Vogue magazine, with Dutch artist Bernadette Ramaeckers hand-painting the car in the same colors as the Voisin on the Vogue cover.
