All Day
The 38th Brussels International Independent Film Festival will take place from 1-6 November. Over 6 days, the Centre Culturel Jacques Franck in Brussels will become a meeting point for filmmakers from all across the world. Some 50 countries will be represented putting on show their film productions many of which are European or worldwide premieres.
Since the creation of the Festival it has welcomed many great names from international cinema such as Pedro Almodovar, François Ozon, Nanni Morreti, not forgetting the well-known Filipino director Brillante Mendoza who got the award for best Director for his film “Kinatay” presented to the Cannes festival.
The featured country this year is New Zealand. In 2010 the Festival presented the now immensely famous BOY by the Maori director Taika Waititi. This brilliant and crowd-pleasing comedy was unreservedly praised by the public and the press. In a way it can now be seen as a prelude to this year’s special program which includes two feature films and five shorts reflecting the originality of present-day New Zealand cinema.
