Christmas in two Hemispheres is the theme of a Children’s Charity Christmas Concert being organised on Saturday 3 December at Auderghem Cultural Centre.

The concert will feature shows from different ends of the planet. From the southern hemisphere is ‘The Baboons who live by the River’, written by Alexander McCall Smith (author of the “Number One Ladies’ Detective Agency” series) with music by Tom Cunningham. It tells the story of a group of baboons who live beside a great river in Africa, a river that flows the wrong way, not into the sea, like other rivers, but into the sands of a wide empty area called the Okavango Delta.

It contrasts with ‘The Snowman’ which has been written by Raymond Briggs with music by Howard Blake and is the story of the boy who build a snowman who comes to life and takes the boy on many adventures. The pieces will be narrated by Ian Forrester QC. The concert will feature the instrumental soloists of the Orchestre de la Monnaie conducted by Dirk Boiy with Mary Gow on piano.

Tickets 15 euro and 12 euro (children).
