It was a chance for the Geneva-based company to entertain the Croisette in the company of numerous celebrities at its Eden Roc held last week on Tuesday, May 17. The kind of glittering evening for which, president and founder, Fawaz Gruosi is renowned.

This year de Grisgono dazzled the Cap d’Antibes with a “Gypsy Chic” themed evening. Mr Gruosi hosted over 800 guests for an event said not to be missed during the Cannes Film Festival. Included among many celebrities were Naomi Campbell, Bianca Balti, Adriana Karembeu, Karolina Kurkova, Rob Lowe, Emmanuel de Savoie and his wife Clotilde Coureau, Goldie Hawn and music maestro Quincy Jones, all longstanding fans of the brand. Guest of honour Naomi Campbell, who was celebrating her birthday, is a close friend of the host.

“I have a really great relationship with Fawaz,” she told reporters. “I love what he does, I think he does the most creative things with stones that you can’t imagine and he gets it done.”

The guests were welcomed on to a red carpet lined with candles and flaming torches and they found themselves immediately immersed into the colourful and exotic world of gypsies, reflecting one of the jeweller’s brands. Glamour, an inseparable part of the de Grisgono image, was apparent right from the start of the evening, with a non-stop parade of stars attired in sparkling evening dresses and adorned in the brand’s beautiful jewelled creations. The Gypsy and Zigana collections were the perfect match for this special occasion, with its bold shapes and fluid movement all set with colourful precious stones.

A splendid cocktail gave invitees a chance to discover the latest collections, while the Black Eyed Peas accompanied by the Gold Singers and Tonino & the Gipsies set light to the room that was abuzz with excitement.

The de Grisgono evening continued with the dinner of lobster and mango carpaccio, followed by veal medallions and finished with Brittany shortbread and strawberries. An impressive “Flaming Fun” show entertained the audience during the dinner, which was finished off with a giant birthday cake carrying ten candles that were blown out with by the jeweller’s founder in the company of his friends.

Another highlight was a firework display that illuminated the night sky above the Croisette with its dazzling brilliance. At this point Will I.Am and the Black Eyed Peas performed, before settling in at the turntable to keep guests dancing all night.

To celebrate the brand’s 10th year at Cannes, what could be better than the unveiling of a collaboration not yet undertaken by any jeweller? Fawaz Gruosi alongside Patrick Marinoff, CEO of car manufacturer Maybach unveiled with the help of 10 fashion models a Maybach customised by de Grisgono jewellery creating something that could be considered a work of art. The car featured Fawaz Gruosi’s initials engraved in black diamonds on the leather upholstery of its rear armrest. Other details include dashboard counters rimmed with white diamonds, as well as the signature de Grisgono scrolled motif featured on the car’s veneer trim. As chic as the rest of the evening.
