This year marks the 10th anniversary of the campaign that’s been getting Europe moving.

Are you a regular athlete or a weekend walker? Are you looking for a fresh start? Whatever your situation, this is your invitation to embrace an active lifestyle.

The 2025 edition starts on 23 September and runs until 30 September.

Since 2015, the Week has helped millions of Europeans discover the physical, mental and social benefits of sport and physical activity. Join us as we look back on a decade of progress and look ahead to an even more dynamic future.

The European Week of Sport has grown into one of the EU’s most important sports awareness campaigns, inspiring millions to embrace healthy, active lifestyles.

Since 2015, the Week has held over 353,000 events for 103 million people across 42 countries and regions.

In 2024, there were 1.6 million people employed in the sport sector across the EU, with 37% aged between 15 and 29. In tertiary education, there were only two female students for every five male students studying sports.

Also, there were over 5,000 manufacturers producing sporting goods in 2023, generating a total turnover of €8 billion.

The dynamic and sustainable city of Copenhagen will host and celebrate the 10th anniversary opening of the Week, a celebration of a decade of energy, enthusiasm and empowerment through sport and physical activity.

This year’s opening will take place in the innovative GAME Streetmekka urban street culture centre.
