Want a chance to explore the sky and its wonders?
If so, a Belgian museum is organising an “Astro Weekend”, described as a “unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the fascinating world of astronomy.”
It all takes place at the Euro Space Centre, said to be the only space them park in Europe, which is located near Dinant.
The centre is a science museum and educational tourist attraction located in Wallonia in the village of Transinne (municipality of Libin). It includes simulators of space flight and micro-gravity.
Whether you’re an enthusiast or simply curious, visitors to the Astro Weekends will be guided by the centre’s specialists and enjoy an “unforgettable immersive experience.”
The programme includes observing the sun and stars.
During the day, visitors can observe the solar star safely using specialized instruments while, in the evening, they can scan the sky and discover constellations, planets and mysteries of the universe, again all accompanied by a specialist.
It also includes an introduction to amateur astronomy instruments, equipment setup, positioning and sky observation.
People are also able to take their own equipment.
There are sessions on the difference between a defractor and a telescope and what to look for when buying an astronomical instrument.
Everyone is welcome but the sessions are in French only and groups are limited to 16 people.
The centre is the home of the only full-scale mock-up of a U.S. space shuttle in Europe.
The dates for the Astro Weekends are:
May 17-18
June 7-8
July 5-6
August 9-10
August 23-24
