We normally associate Belgium wits beers but the country is also going down a treat in the lucrative whisky market too.
Belgian excellence has once again been put in the spotlight on the international stage.
“Waterloo Whiskey” made its mark at the just-held 2025 World Whiskey Awards by winning three major distinctions, including two prestigious gold medals and the title of Category Winner.
The success is seen as yet more recognition of what Belgium is now achieving in the whiskey sector.
At the 2025 edition of the World Whiskey Awards, Waterloo The Brewer – Single Malt and Waterloo The Brancardier – Single Grain both won a gold medal and the title of Category Winner.
At the same time, the Waterloo Rum Cask – Single Grain also received a silver medal…..even before its official release.
These new distinctions reinforce the reputation of Waterloo Whiskey, the result of know-how transmitted and perfected within the Anthony Martin family.
Founded in 2017 by Edward, heir to a line of passionate brewers spanning four generations, the distillery embodies a bold vision of tradition and innovation.
Thanks to his commitment and expertise, Edward infuses each vintage with the demands and precision that have made Waterloo Whiskey renowned today.
Drawing on strong roots within the Ferme de Mont-Saint-Jean in Waterloo, the distillery combines artisanal methods and creativity to produce whiskeys with a unique character, praised by both enthusiasts and international experts.
The Brewer, who had already won a gold medal last year, perfectly illustrates this balance.
With a remarkable track record, Waterloo Whiskey and the distillery have established themselves as key players in premium whiskey, demonstrating that Belgian know-how does not stop at beers, but is also brilliantly illustrated in the world of spirits, driven by the passion and excellence of Edward Martin.
