The school half term in Belgium is fast approaching (October) so you may be wondering for ways to treat the kids (and yourself) to something a bit different.

If so, then there’s one place over the border in France that is well worth considering.

Futuroscope is a real world beater and has the awards and recognition to prove it.

Opened in 1987, the park is known for its cutting-edge technology and immersive experiences that captivate visitors of all ages.

It can boast “world bests” and ticks the boxes on various levels, be they educational or thrill seeking. It is even doing its bit to fight climate change.

The attractions include thrilling 4D cinemas, virtual reality adventures, and dynamic simulators. You might start with your feet in the air, soaring over 5 continents. This one is called “l’Extraordinaire Voyage” and has been voted best attraction in Europe.

Another award-winning attraction, is “Chasseurs De Tornades”, voted best attraction in the world no less which, considering the competition, is quite some accolade.

While visiting, try not to miss “Objectif Mars”  which offers the chance to join the astronaut training programme aboard a family rollercoaster. “Danse Avec Les  Robots” allows you to get into a 23ft high robot arm that will take you dancing to hits by DJ Martin Solveig.

Elsewhere on this fascinating park there is “Kinemax” where you can enjoy a wonderful IMAX laser 4K A film about the French astronaut Thomas Pesquet as well as “Antarctic 3D” which spells out the invaluable role this particular continent plays when it comes to climate change.

While some of these might appeal to teens and older people (there is a minimum height rule on all rides)  the little ones are not overlooked here either with a special “kid friendly” “Futuropolis” playtown packed with open air games and attractions.

The very latest attraction (it opened earlier this year) is called “Mission Bermudes which offers you the chance to sail into the mysterious Bermuda Triangle in the wake of lost explorers.

A spokesman explained the new ride, “Once you board the revolutionary Rocking Boats, visitors embark on a spectacular expedition combining impressive scenery, sensory effects, tumultuous rapids, and a dizzying 16-meter drop.”

The spokesman added, “This world exclusive crowns Futuroscope’s Vision 2025 program, with more than €300 million invested to transform the park into a truly iconic European resort.”

All this is set within architecturally stunning pavilions.

There are even hotels on site where you can stay for the night if you want to make the most of any visit here, plus a range of places to eat and drink.

Not to be overlooked is the park’s commitment to innovation and creativity, something that ensures a constantly evolving experience.

All it all, it makes this place a must-visit destination for anyone seeking a blend of education, entertainment, and “futuristic fun.”

This futuristic theme park, located near Poitiers is easily accessible from Belgium by road or via train. Visitors from Belgium can take the train to Paris and transfer to a TGV to the Futuroscope train station which is situated conveniently right next to the park itself.

For those new to it, the park offers a blend of thrilling rides, immersive 3D cinemas, and informative exhibits that explore themes of technology, space, and time.

The park spokesman told this site, “There are attractions for adults, not just thrills. For instance, there’s the film about Thomas Pesquet’s adventure in space and one about Antarctica and a planetarium where you can learn about the formation of the constellations. There is also soft attraction where you ‘fly in an airship’ to discover the different continents (L’Extraordinaire voyage).

“The park has a scientific and educational vocation. It appeals to all ages and the atmosphere is fairly relaxed. It is a great place to visit with a family.”

So there you have it… anyone looking for a bit of inspiration for a short autumn getaway would do well to give Futuroscope serious consideration.
