MGMT to play Brussels in October

Following the success of their highly acclaimed first album, Orcular Spectacular, MGMT released Congratulations in April, selling 66,000 albums in their first week.

The two-man band from Brooklyn, consisting of Ben Goldwasser and Andrew VanWyngarden, will begin their European tour on September 16 in Dublin. From there, they stop in some of the more popular European cities including Paris, Amsterdam and London.

A large part of the group’s popularity can be attributed to an ultra-catchy single from their first album, “Electric Feel”. The song achieved international acclaim, reaching as high as 17 on Belgian’s Singles Top 50, not to mention in the top ten singles in areas like Australia and New Zealand.

With a repertoire of widely known radio singles — they are also noted for other singles like “Kids” and “Time to Pretend”— and lesser known electronic-psychedelic music, the show promises to be, if nothing else, upbeat.
