Palace borrows smart car for the royal day

1638

The crowning of Philippe the new King of the Belgians was a glorious event held in glorious sunshine on the country’s national day 21st July.

Perhaps because of the unexpected heatwave, the Palace borrowed an elegant open top Mercedes limo to transport the new King and Queen around the town. Germany was happy to provide a Mercedes 600 Pullman for the occasion. Unlike the British royals, the Belgian royal family has long since dispensed with a fleet of  special cars for royal occasions. Mercedes we are quite sure are grateful for the publicity.
