Who will take on the challenge of producing that icon of Belgian gastronomy – the best croquette?
Yes, it is that time of the year again…. finding the Best Shrimp Croquette in Brussels competition with the call for applicants now open.
Until 8 December, establishments wishing to participate in the sixth edition of the competition to find the best shrimp croquette in Brussels are invited to submit their applications. The title will be up for grabs again this year on 9 February 2026.
After crowning Fernand Obb Delicatessen, Les Brasseries Georges and Bouillon, Brussels’ best shrimp croquette competition for the best shrimp croquette has become an unmissable annual event.
In 2024, 15 establishments took up the challenge, demonstrating the title’s undeniable popularity.
The call for applications is now open and will remain so until 8 December. To participate, candidates must meet the following criteria: they must own an establishment, canteen, counter or food truck that operates within the Brussels-Capital Region and offers homemade shrimp croquettes on the menu.
Anyone interested is asked to ign up by filling in the application form for the competition to find the best shrimp croquette in Brussels and emailing it to j.elmann@visit.brussels before 8 December 2025.
A panel of food journalists and renowned chefs will taste and rate each croquette according to specific criteria. The breadcrumb coating, taste, texture and quality of the shrimps will be scrutinised to rank the contenders.
The winner will take home the coveted title of ‘Best Shrimp Croquette in Brussels’, which they will be able to display throughout 2026
