Klarafestival has begun the selection process for a new director, who from 2026 will draft the policy plan for 2028-2032.
This plan will serve as the foundation for funding under the Arts Decree of the Flemish Community.
Current director Joost Fonteyne has asked the board of directors to ensure his succession once Klarafestival 2026 has concluded.
Speaking to this site, Fonteyne said, “It is essential that the new policy plan is written by the individual who can execute the entire policy period. I look forward to shaping the 21st edition of Klarafestival in 2026 alongside the team.
“After that, I will continue to offer the experience I have built up in the sector for a few more years.”
Jan Raes, president Festival van Vlaanderen Brussel, added,“Director Joost Fonteyne ‘lives and breathes’ Klarafestival.
“Following the artistically successful and well-attended 20th Klarafestival, we eagerly anticipate the 2026 edition.”
Further comment comes from Chantal Pattyn, manager at Klara, who added, “I’d like to sincerely thank Joost for the past few years.”
She went on, “May Klarafestival continue to grow and evolve with the same spirit of adventure.”
