National demonstration will disrupt public transportation

Local transport companies do not know what routes will be disrupted come 10:30 AM on Thursday, but they do know some will. Belgium’s three main unions are unhappy with the wage constraints set by the federal government, and therefore are set to stage a national demonstration in protest.

“Traveling around Brussels will be difficult,” MVIB’s website states. “Our metro-, tram and bus lines as well as our sales network will be heavily disrupted because part of our staff will be participating in the demonstration. At the moment it is not yet possible to communicate which lines will be operated or not. Depending on the number of available drivers, a minimal network with the most important lines will be operated.”
