Brussels Airlines pilot abandons half of luggage on runway

Passengers on the flight Bastia-Brussels will remember 16 August 2014 for a very long time.

Sud Presse reports that as they boarded the Brussels Airlines aircraft passengers were warned by the driver that it was impossible to take all of their luggage, because the ‘old crate’ was too heavy due to the overloading of fuel.

The stunned holidaymakers, some of whom were fragile, were forced to drop half their belongings onto the airport runway.

Notified of the story, MP Christine Defraigne was outraged: “Is it conceivable that in 2014 a charter plane belonging to a company that claims to be serious and reliable cannot carry all its passengers, all of their bags and a full tank?”

An investigation is ongoing.
