The European police agency, Europol, based in the Hague  and headed by Robert Wainwirght (pictured) said the suspects were arrested for allegedly participating in a network producing passports for illegal travel to Britain.

The officers had discovered a “French-based Pakistani and Bangladeshi organized crime network” providing “high-quality fake EU passports that had been produced by expert forgers in Belgium and France,” said Europol in a statement.

One of the suspects was a doctor who was alleged to have been providing false medical certificates to illegal immigrants in France, according to the police agency.

Investigators said that the network charged migrants €12,000 to be smuggled from Bangladesh to France, via Sweden, and another €5,000 to get from Belgium or France to the UK.
