Future Of Fashion On Show In Germany

The show “Dream” featuring 150 outfits will present fashion and other figurative arts in a poetic, imaginative manner highlighting Europe’s future top designers and exploring our notions of fashion.

Following the recent spectacular fashions shows by Vivienne Westwood and her student, Wolfgang Joop and then the creations by future fashion makers from Bremen Art College, Dream will highlight what a creative hotbed Antwerp can be to its German audience.

Van Beirendonck, born in 1957 in Brecht, is a fashion designer, artist and professor at the Royal Academy. He achieved prominence with the “Antwerp Six” at the 1987 British Designer Show in London and the outfits for U2″s 1997 “Popmart” tour. In 1998, he was nominated for the Fashion Awards in New York. Van Beirendonck is regarded as the wildest designer of the “Antwerp Six”, which includes Dries van Noten and Ann Demeulemeester. His designs are colourful, playful, witty and unconventional, and yet they can reflect on serious political and cultural subject matters.
