Iconic New York artist and activist, Vincent William Gagliostro, has done and seen it all, successfully working as an activist, art director, graphic designer, video artist and film director, exhibiting his work in the world’s most illustrious museums and art fairs.

(Guggenheim, Victor & Albert Museum, Whitney Museum of American Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Art Basel Miami, Centre Pompidou…)

For his upcoming Paris exhibition at the Galerie NeC nilsson et chiglien, Gagliostro presents a new series of work entitled “TABLETS (It was November; documentation 3)”, the third part of a semi-autobiographical multi-media trilogy including drawings, paintings, sculpture and video. The direction he has taken for this exhibition comes from a quote by fellow Abstract Minimalist Frank Stella, “What you see is what you see.” With that in mind, coupled with his Formalist approach to art, Gagliostro eliminates all non-essential forms and symbolism so that the juxtaposition of the contrasting materials (bible paper, wood and architecture of the space) un-conceals the overall theme of the exhibition and his work in general, fragility and strength.
