NEW YEAR WHATS ON BELGIUM HANGAR ART PHOTO BRUSSELS TOGETHER MAGAZINE
PhotoBrussels Festival

The entire Together team would like to wish you a very Happy New Year, and we’re sure that, like us, you are glad to see the back of 2020. Be happy, stay safe!

Hangar Photo Centre: The World Within
Hangar launches the 5th edition of PhotoBrussels Festival, an event dedicated to photography that aims to radiate in the city.

PhotoBrussels Festival 05 will commemorate the year 2020: 419 artists in Europe responded to the ‘Call for European Photographers’ launched during the lockdown (March-June 2020).

Through twenty-seven different photographic and/or video sensibilities, Hangar reveals the seeds of human creative resilience. Each artist presents their vision of the ‘inner world’, thus shattering the confinement’s peculiar atmosphere. Creativity, humour, empathy, reflection, love, inspiration from nature are all principles that promise a quick recovery and a better ‘after’.

The ‘Leica Coup de coeur’ will be announced at the opening of PhotoBrussels Festival. The winner will be granted a Leica Q2. 21 January – 27 March 2021. Hangar.

NEW YEAR WHATS ON BELGIUM LA MONNAIE MARLIS PETERSEN TOGETHER MAGAZINE

La Monnaie: Die tote Stadt
Watch this in streaming on La Monnaie’s website. A restrained psychological thriller, a muted portrait of a city, and one of the masterpieces of Belgian Symbolism: in Bruges-la-Morte, a gloomy Venice of the North reflects the grieving process of a man who, following the death of his wife, sinks into a mood of obsession and delusion. The operatic adaptation of the novel was a huge hit for 23-year-old Erich Wolfgang Korngold, whose ecstatic, at times exuberant music prefigured his later career as a film composer. The work has inspired the director Mariusz Treliński to create a production in which the lines between reality and the imaginary are constantly blurred, while the La Monnaie Symphony orchestra reaps the benefits of conductor Lothar Koenigs’ unerring feeling for the late-Romantic repertoire. Until 3 January. La Monnaie streaming.
