Lovano is one of the best saxophone players in the world. He released his latest album Bird Songs in January 2011 which is a  personal tribute to Charlie Parker. Bird Songs was his 22nd album for Blue Note Records and form the major part of his act when he performs with his band, Us Five, on Friday July 15.

A highlight of the next day will be the Brussels Jazz Orchestra (BJO) performing with Kenny Werner. The set will mainly feature tracks from a new unnamed album recorded with Werner, scheduled for release in August on Half Note Records.

Werner is a world-class pianist and composer and his prolific output of compositions, recordings and publications continue to impact audiences around the world.

He and the Brussels Jazz Orchestra have a history of collaboration and  previously made the album Naked in the Cosmos in 2003. Last year BJO and Werner played a series of concerts at Dizzy’s Club in New York City and they returned to Belgium, the artists went into the studio to record another album together. Last year also saw a collaboration with Joe Lovano and Judi Silvano on the album No Beginning No End.

Also later on Saturday night Werner will play with the world famous harmonica player Toots Thielesmans.
