Compared to 2008 the number of motorists caught speeding has doubled. The rise is linked to greater use of speed cameras that caught half a million speeding offences in 2011.
Belgium’s federal police were also busy fightin drink-driving and 260,000 suspect drivers were stopped and tested. This figure has also doubled since 2008. Only 2% of drivers however were over the legal drink-drive limit.
