In our latest Wallonia tourism article we have put together some slow getaways by train, by bike, or on foot.

Discovering Wallonia in slow tourism mode is the new project set up by Wallonie Belgique Tourisme in collaboration with Hike Up and Railtrip.travel.

The concept
Explore Wallonia by combining train, walking and cycling. Getaways of a few days, 100% Zen, 0% car…
Five routes are offered: Waterloo – La Louvière, Mons – Tournai, Charleroi – Erquelinnes, Namur – Dinant and Marche (Marloie) – Liège.
Each of the proposed routes starts and ends at a railway station. Between the two, there are stopover stations. Connect by train, on foot or by bike.
The itineraries are inter-connectable. By combining them, you have the possibility of spending a magnificent lasting holiday (a fortnight in total) in Wallonia.
Combine the routes as you wish, according to your rhythm, your interests, choose your accommodation and where you visit.
Wallonia tourism has put together travel diary offers for each getaway:

– Detailed maps
– Places to visit on your route
– Nature activities
– Restaurant ideas and cool picnic spots
– A great choice of accommodation
– Local specialities to try
Our escapades can be linked together, obviously by train, enough to make the most of this new slow tourism experience and the opportunity to use your free Rail Pass offered by the SNCB. Have a good trip!
