Bruxelles Mobilité: Leopold II Tunnel closed for renovation

1503

Bruxelles Mobilité is renovating the Leopold II Tunnel. During the year, the tunnel will be closed during the night from Sunday to Thursday inclusive. The tunnel will be completely closed to traffic during the months of July and August for three successive summers (2018, 2019 and 2020).

Accompanying measures have been put in place to reduce the impact of tunnel closure during the works. They imply surface adaptations on Avenue Charles V and Boulevard Léopold II, gradually put in place, to be effective on July 1st.

Tunnel closed day and night only summer!
The planning of the site was carried out in order to leave as much as possible the tunnel open during the day. Work began May 1, 2018 and will continue for 39 months. Full closures (day and night work) are limited to summer holidays in July-August. Outside of these periods, the worksite is carried out at night between 10pm and 6am and only on weekdays to let users pass through the tunnel on Fridays and Saturdays.

“Aint no cure for the summertime blues” as the man sang.
