Our festive drinks article stays in Belgium and heads to a far away Scottish Hebridean island.
Bruichladdich
A good single malt in an original bottle, intended for whiskey lovers and flavour crusaders. The Limited Edition Bruichladdich Classic Laddie Pack is the perfect end of year gift: 100% Scottish, yet completely different from the usual Scotch single malt whiskey. No age on the packaging, but a code that reveals the unique recipe of each bottle. Enter your code, reveal the recipe, all part of Bruichladdich’s disruptive distillation philosophy. Made from Scottish barley, aged in premium oak barrels and distilled and bottled on the shores of Lochindaal, on the Isle of Islay. Bruichladdich produces a 100% Scotch whiskey, but according to its own philosophy of distillation.
Bruichladdich Distillery is located on the southwestern tip of the remote Hebridean island of Islay where we distil four unique spirits. Home to Bruichladdich, Port Charlotte and Octomore single malt whiskies and The Botanist Islay dry gin.
They tell their story: “There are many attributes we share with our distant Gaelic forefathers: stubborn, resolute, self-sufficient, tough, hard-working, enduring, straight-talking, emotional, passionate, philosophical and engaging… perhaps with a certain roguish quality. We are proudly nonconformist, as has always been the way in these Western Isles – Oirthir Gaidheal, the Coast of the Gaels, the land of the outsider. We passionately believe in terroir – in authenticity, place and provenance, in ultimate traceability. We seek to produce the most natural, thought-provoking, intellectually stimulating & enjoyable spirits possible. Obsessive? Probably – but if all you want is generic spirit, the world is awash with the stuff. We are Progressive Hebridean Distillers.” Recommended retail price: €58. Available from top wine merchants.
