In Belgium: Virtual Moment of Togetherness with ‘Darkness Into Light’ – 05:30pm Saturday 9 May 2020.
This #EuropeanMentalHealthWeek on #EuropeDay Darkness Into Light Brussels joins in shining a spotlight on the importance of #MentalHealth in these challenging times.
At 05:30pm this Saturday 9 May 2020, Darkness Into Light Brussels, with its patron EU Commissioner Phil Hogan, invites you to light a candle in your home or garden, a virtual #MomentofTogetherness in memory of those who have left us too soon by suicide, and in support of those of us who are living with mental health issues.
While the annual walk cannot take place this Saturday due to COVID 19 restrictions, Darkness Into Light Brussels will come together virtually. https://www.facebook.com/events/914259585661919/ @DILBXL
Commissioner Hogan said: ‘We will be continuing to think of the people that are under pressure or stress due to this very serious virus that we have in our community at the moment, and we will think of those people who passed away in the last year…even though we cannot do the physical action in terms of darkness into light, the issues are the same and we continue to promote good work to protect people… and to help them with mental stress.’
Join ‘virtually’ or share a photo, video or message on the Darkness Into Light Brussels facebook page, or on twitter/instagram (#DIL2020 #darknessintolight #TogetherWeCan).
Darkness Into Light is a global movement founded by Pieta House Ireland, dedicated to ending suicide and supporting those who engage in self-harm. This time last year almost 900 people gathered before dawn in Brussels and walked from the darkness into the light. Over 65,000 euro was raised for Centrum ter Preventie van Zelfdoding and Centre de Prévention du Suicide in Belgium and for Pieta House in Ireland.
The 3rd Brussels Darkness Into Light walk will hopefully take place on Saturday 3 October 2020, subject to COVID19 restrictions.
